Rape attack – how can I receive emotional and financial support?

Raped and attacked. It was 3am and I was on my way home from a night out just before Christmas. As I walked through a short alley I was jumped by another man who held me to the floor and raped me whilst filming it on his phone.

I was covered in bruises and couldn’t face walking near where it happened or going out, even just to work. I didn’t report the incident for several weeks because I was so depressed about what had happened.

I was able to check on the sexual abuse compensation calculator that I was able to be compensated for my injuries. I contacted CIC to discuss what it involved. They sensitively explained how they could help, and I have now received the support and compensation I needed.
