We understand how important this question is to you. We also realise that very often it is hard to find the answer, so we have designed for you a Criminal Injuries Compensation Calculator, which will help you to find out what the CICA payouts should be.
The compensation calculator gives precise figures for all the different injuries that compensation is payable under the criminal injuries compensation authority scheme.
You can also add additional injuries as it calculates in the same way the CICA does how much compensation for each injury, making the correct reduction in compensation for second and third injuries.
CICA compensation amounts for a criminal injury are 100% of the first injury (most serious injury), 30% of the second (most serious) injury and 15% of the third (most serious) injury. If injuries are the same severity, one is calculated at the lower percentage.
See the example CICA compensation rates below where the multi injury formula apples:
Injury one is valued at £3,000.
Injury two is valued at £200.
Injury three is valued at £1,000.
Injury four is valued at £500.
Injury five is valued at £400.
CICA compensation rates would be calculated for the three highest valued injuries with the relevant percentage applied to the second and third highest valued injuries and nothing for the fourth and fifth highest valued injuries:
Injury one £3,000 at 100% (£3,000).
Injury three £1,000 at 30% (£300).
Injury four £500 at 15% (£75).
Total compensation award £3,375
We would advise that you speak to a solicitor to discuss your case and find out if you could have a valid claim.
We have designed a criminal injuries compensation calculator that gives a guide to what you may be able to claim.
